Lia Akhaladze - professor and Doctor of History at Sokhumi State University


	

Lia Akhaladze is an associate professor and Doctor of History at Sokhumi State University. She studied in Abkhazia A.M. Gorky State University and TSU Sokhumi Branch, Faculty of History and Law. She has graduated from Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, postgraduate study in source studies and historiography. She defended his dissertation on "Georgian epigraphic monuments in Abkhazia in the IX-XVII centuries."

Mrs. Lia has been working at Iv. Javakhishvili TSU Sokhumi Branch since 1995, first as a teacher, then as an associate professor, and since 2006 she has been selected through a competition for the academic position of Associate Professor of Sokhumi State University. She has held administrative positions at various times: she was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History and Law of the TSU Sokhumi Branch, the Head of the Quality Assurance Service of the Sokhumi State University, the Dean of the Faculty of Education. Since July 2020, she has been the Head of the Scientific Research and Development at SSU. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Higher Education Council of the National Center for Education Quality Development.

Mrs. Lia Akhaladze studies different periods of Georgian history, historical sources, historiography, cultural history, epigraphic monuments and material culture of Abkhazia and Javakheti, history teaching methods, education policy, multicultural and multiethnic Georgian issues. She is actively involved in the international academic system: Participates in national and international scientific forums, chaired several international and national scientific-practical conferences under the auspices of Sokhumi State University, is an international project of the EU and the USA: DOIT, DARE, ASSET, DITECH Local Coordinator, USAID Basic Education Program Manager at Sokhumi State University.

Her works have been published in Georgian, English, Spanish, French, Czech, Russian, Arabic and Turkish languages. She is the author of over a hundred publications, including three monographs, two textbooks, several collective monographs, and the author and editor of collections.

She has got  a husband and a daughter.
