Kakha Kvashilava -  Journalist, PhD in History, Associate Professor, Sokhumi State University


	

 

Born January 15th, 1974 in Sokhumi. 1980-1991 was teaching at the Akaki Tsereteli Sokhumi Public School #6. In 1997 graduate with honors specialty History of Faculty of History and Law of Sokhumi Branch of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

In 2002-2012 he worked at Association of Journalists “PostFactum” as a Journalist, radio presenter, script writer, project manager, member of the editorial board, Editor. There main directions were educational programs and IDPs’ rights.

In 2002 he became a post-graduate student of Sokhumi Branch of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. His dissertation topic, which was defeated in 2009, was “Historical Samurzakano. Turn of 17th-18th Centuries – 1840”.

Till 2009 up today he has been working at Sokhumi State University. As an invited lecturer, he conducts lectures at several accredited (state and private) universities.

He is member of International editorial board of “ The Black Sea Journal of Public and Social Science”  (Republic of Turkey); Twice received Ministry “Certificate of Appreciation” of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia “For the successful implementation of the educational project “Deepening Knowledge of the History of Abkhazia” in Tbilisi Public Schools”; From 1998 Member of Intellectual Club “What? Where? When?”; Researcher of the Village History Researching Center of the Georgian Patriarchate.

Author of approximately 55 scientific works (including 3 monographs) in Georgian, Turkish, Russian and English languages in Georgia and as well as In Turkey and Poland.

He explores the history of Abkhazia in the new and recent times, the history of Georgian-Eastern relations (Ottoman/Turkish, Iranian, Afghan) relations.

He is a veteran of the war, involved in hostilities in Abkhazia.
