Manana Kvachakhia - Advisor of the Chairman of Government of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia


	

 

After graduation from the Department of Philosophy and Psychology of Tbilisi State University with a degree in psychology (1980) I was a legal psychology intern at the Department of Criminology, Faculty of Law, Shevchenko State University of Kiev (1990 to 1991) and a seeking applicant at the Department of Criminology of the aforementioned university in 1992-1993.

I worked as a teacher in the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Sukhumi State University (1980-1992) and gave lectures and conducted seminars on general psychology, child psychology, social, legal, medical psychology and conflictology in the department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Sukhumi branch of Tbilisi Javakhishvili State University (1995 to 2006).


In 2005-2009 I occupied the position of the head of the department of education, territorial representations and information management at the Ministry of Education and Culture of Abkhazia.

In 2009-2012 I continued to work in the same ministry, as the head of the joint department of Education, Culture and Sports, and as the First Deputy Minister of Education and Culture of Abkhazia (2012–2017); as the Minister of Education and Culture of Abkhazia ( 2017–2019); First Deputy Minister from (from May 2019 to Murch 2020).

For many years, the curatorial directions of my work in the aforementioned ministry involved current projects and issues in the field of education, culture and sports. Among them are educational programs and issues referring Abkhazian state schools, as well as schools operating in the occupied Gali district, and I continue to be involved.

Since March 2020, I am adviser to the chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia on education, culture, sport and youth affairs.

In 2016-2017 I was a visiting professor to the Institute of Public Relations of Georgia (GIPA), where I conducted a course of lectures on the psychological basis of professiology.

At different times (1998-2017) I cooperated with international non-governmental organizations as a  project manager, coordinator, consultant, expert and  a trainer.


I was involved in following Projects:

  • Action Against Hunger (ACF-Madrid). Social Entrepreneurship as a Way of Employment and Economic Empowerment.
  • Eurasia Foundation. Vocational education and development of professional skills for IDP youth.
  • Open Society Georgia.

  • In 2006, I founded the non-governmental organization Education for Democracy, successfully implementing a number of international and local programs and projects in the field of non-formal, vocational and civic education for both students and adults. I am the author of six reference manuals on conflict resolution, educational psychology, personal skills development, career growth and development.
